Innovative design

Our exclusive Bosman Fine Bubble Aerators in activated sludge wastewater treatment have unquestionable advantages over course and medium bubble aeration regarding oxygen transfer efficiency and lower power consumption. The Plate Aerators also have an outstanding life expectancy and easy maintenance. Holding the promise of paying for itself in power costs, the Fine Bubble Plate Aerators prove it after years of use.

The Bosman Plate Aerator overcomes the common disadvantages of other diffusers, such as orifice clogging, biofouling, and power-robbing performance degradation that necessitates ongoing diffuser maintenance, basin downtime, and replacement costs. Many of these issues are typically only discovered after system installation and the investment has been made.

The Bosman Plate Aerator system overcomes these difficulties by combining an innovative design with a special membrane that resists fouling and maintains optimal efficiency many times longer than even the most robust materials used by other manufacturers. The Plate Aerator membrane is plasticizer free, meaning it is not subject to becoming brittle over time like  most fine bubble diffusers. The backing plate and attaching hardware are 316 stainless steel, providing the highest level of structural integrity and corrosion resistance available. The unique top feed design of the Plate Aerator allows for the highest submergence available, with the air release point only 1.5 inches from the basin floor. This additional submergence provides up to 10% greater oxygen transfer than disc, dome, tube, or panel diffusers.

Since the plate aerator sits directly on the basin floor, aeration basin volume is increased and oxygen robbing grit and other detritus do not settle underneath or around it. The grit settling is a commonly found issue with nearly every other aeration system. This results in less basin downtime and maintenance.

The design of the plate aerator allows for an easier and less expensive installation by drastically reducing the number of air supply connections required and the use of flexible piping. The fewer connections also provide fewer opportunities for leaks.

The system design facilitates taking a single plate aerator offline if necessary without dewatering. All the while leaving all the others in service.

Every plate aerator is fully tested and serialized at the factory before it is shipped. Worldwide, the number of installations exceeds 1,500. We are so confident in our plate aerator that we offer a full 5 year warranty as standard.

We have retrofitted many different basins using other types of aeration with the plate aerator, and have seen results of up to 50% in energy savings. Design and performance data is available for these retrofits. Older installations with outmoded or undersized aeration systems can benefit from modern oxygen transfer efficiency and exceptional power savings, decreasing costs.

The 316 stainless steel construction with a unique membrane material prove unprecedented efficiency and durability. Over 15 years of installations still in operation. Superior materials and design create long term solutions for the most challenging applications. With a life expectancy of over 20 years the Plate Aerator is the longest lasting diffused aeration system on the market.

Additionally, drop- in units are available that allows Plate Aerator installation without the need for dewatering and/or removing the basin from service.

The drop-in units are available in various configurations with regard to number of plates and plate layout. This enables maximum flexibility in each application. Additionally, temporary and permanent air piping can be provided with header piping engineered to fit a plants specific needs. Our standard drop-in frame is hot dipped galvanized carbon steel. We do offer a 316 and 304 stainless steel option.
